01Starting point
The same every evening, without anyone thinking about it
The request was not for more light but for reliable light: a venue that looks the way it was meant to every evening, including when the owner is away and there is new staff on shift.
02Design
Six moods, split across zones
Lunch, afternoon, drinks, evening, late and cleaning. Each mood has its own lighting state and volume per zone, because the tables by the window ask for something different from the seating area at the back.
03Build
Existing lighting made controllable
The fixtures already installed were reused wherever possible and put onto groups, so the budget went into the control system rather than into replacing lamps that worked.
04Transitions
Fades over minutes, not seconds
The venue gets gradually more intimate without there ever being a moment where the lights go down. Guests do not consciously notice the change, and that is exactly the point.
05Controls
One screen, and one button that puts it right
Big buttons, the language of the venue instead of scene numbers, and a temporary deviation that falls back by itself. Whatever anyone touched: one button returns the room to how it should be.
